6. Advertisement of other games or other astonia3 engine based servers is not permitted. You may discuss other games or servers only in the /c10 (games) channel.
So I completely understand this rule about the advertising of other astonia servers. But other games aswell? Sounds as if you're a dictator who's afraid of an uprise where people will try another game but your own so you have to frighten us...

Further more, channels are barely used at all since we're not allowed to discuss anything. And with a few exceptions, like using /c3 for selling & /c5 for clan stuff and /i for info, why do you care if people use /c2 for talking about games?

If you want your game to grow, you need a community, and to get a community you need conversations. It might not always be one that you find interesting or appropriate, but if you keep shutting people up for trying to start a public conversation it's hard to convince our friends to join this game

Because not everybody in open chat wants to sit and listen to people talk about other games. I don't come to ugaris to talk about WoW, nor to hear about it. Hence c10

Everything has a channel. To specify a channel for certain things does not prevent conversations, it merely allows people to select what kind of conversations they wish to participate in.

I agree with Fred here. The original purpose behind having all the channels wasn't to limit what you heard, it was because there were so many people online all the time that if you mischanneled you were throwing off people's conversations. People couldn't see what was said, get answers to questions, etc. That is not an issue here. I'm of the strong opinion that as long as chats aren't directly interfering with people talking about things the channel is based on, then it isn't a big deal and there needs to be a dramatic lightening up. Otherwise it isn't going to be fun, period.

Turning it from "organizing so that people aren't overwhelmed and can keep their chats organized" to "means of controlling who hears what, when, how, and why" is a totally different story. No game where you are babysat by fascists is going to be fun. I don't even like talking about MMOs and I'm opposed to this bullshit.
