Full-Screen Epic Lag

Post by Dealer » Sun May 25, 2014 1:34 am

Many players have experienced lag when using Fullscreen in the current Ugaris Dev release. A fix to this is to use windowed.

For the many new players we wish to come, I will post how to do this.

Right click on your Astonia icon(which should be on the desktop).

Click Properties.

Make sure to click the "Shortcut" tab.

At the end of the long text in "Target:" put -w at the end of this.

*Make sure to leave 1 space between the text and "-w".

I will +1 this solution. Worked for me on Windows 8.1 64-bit.

However, I added " -x -w" behind the target path. Not just " -w". Don't know the difference tbh myself, it worked, so I was happy.

-x addes that it doesnt try to update.

It was used in the original v3 so that it wouldnt fix your hacked moac.exe for multiboxing.

The client uses direct draw which is no longer supported in windows 8.
A permanent fix requires a rewrite of the client.... not a trivial task.
Fortunately windowed mode does not use any direct draw calls so it works.
If you change your display resolution to 1034x768 the windowed mode will almost fill the screen... a bit of a pain I know but helps when you have poor eyesight.

Thanks for the heads-up martin. But a rewrite of the client is on our list anyway. Won't be easy, but it is a necessary thing.

PS. Welcome to Ugaris forums =)

Eddow, in the client you've provided in the update .exe, you should remove your name from being default when the client is loaded :)
