The point of the light spell suggestion was to not change the balance, to keep the game the same but increase options. Since a light spell would be cheap, it wouldn't take much exp out, but it would be something.
I actually like the idea of glowing holy weapons. It would actually make swamps worth doing. Being a quest item sounds fine. Makes sure it takes at least 20ish levels before you can get light with a TH. I'd have a VERY low light setting per holy too. To get brightness of a torch, I'd say get like a +96 Holy weapon, but without a limit so you can get even more light.

The glowing holy weapon concept is a very interesting one. You have to work for it, but it will be worth it.
